Άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένο με την genius loci, ένα καλοκαιρινό σπίτι στο νησί της Κρήτης, όπου θα ξεχάσετε τον περιττό και θα επανασυνδεθείτε με την παρθένα φύση που την περιβάλλει και τους αργούς ρυθμούς της. Ενσωμάτωση στο τοπίο, η επιτακτική ανάγκη!

A pochi passi dall’antico borgo di Kato Mixorròuma – i cui riferimenti progettuali sono molteplici – nella prefettura di Rethymno, la costruzione si adagia su uno scosceso pendio, seguendone l’orografia.

A few steps far from the ancient village of Kato Mixorròuma – whose design references are many – in the prefecture of Rethymno, the building sits on a steep slope, following its orography.

Λίγα βήματα μακριά από το αρχαίο χωριό Κάτω Μιξόρρουμα – του οποίου οι σχεδιαστικές αναφορές είναι πολλές – στο νομό Ρεθύμνου, το κτίριο βρίσκεται σε μια απότομη πλαγιά, ακολουθώντας την ορογραφία του.

Inserita tra una quercia secolare a Ovest e un Aloni – bassa costruzione circolare in pietra usata per l’agricoltura – protetto dall’Istituto archeologico ad Est, la casa si apre verso Sud, mantenendo invece un profilo più riservato e chiuso in direzione Nord e del nuovo villaggio.

Inserted between an old oak tree on the West and an Aloni – low circular stone construction used for agriculture – protected by the Archaeological Institute on the East, the house opens towards the South while maintaining a more reserved and closed profile on the North and towards the new village.

Έχοντας τοποθετηθεί ανάμεσα σε μια παλιά βελανιδιά στη Δύση και ένα Αλώνι – χαμηλή κυκλική πέτρινη κατασκευή που χρησιμοποιείται για τη γεωργία – προστατευμένο από το Αρχαιολογικό Ινστιτούτο στην Ανατολή, το σπίτι ανοίγει προς το Νότο διατηρώντας παράλληλα ένα πιο προστατευμένο και κλειστό προφίλ στο Βορρά προς το νέο χωριό.

Le forme essenziali e i materiali – pietra, legno, metallo e intonaco – pur declinati con un linguaggio contemporaneo echeggiano l’architettura tradizionale.

The essential shapes and materials – stone, wood, metal and plaster – while declined with a contemporary language echo the traditional architecture.

Τα βασικά σχήματα και υλικά – πέτρα, ξύλο, μέταλλο και γύψος – ενώ είναι διαμορφωμένα με μια σύγχρονη γλώσσα απηχούν την παραδοσιακή αρχιτεκτονική.

L’avlì – cortile e l’imponente scala, diventano fulcro e asse distributivo dell’intero progetto attorno a cui ruotano i tre nuovi volumi della casa: chiaro richiamo alle tipiche abitazioni ormai disabitate che si trovano alle sue pendici.

The avlì – courtyard and the imposing staircase become the fulcrum and distribution axis of the entire project around which the three new volumes of the house revolve: a clear reference to the typical now uninhabited houses on its slopes.

Η αυλή και η επιβλητική σκάλα γίνονται ο άξονας διανομής ολόκληρου του έργου γύρω από τον οποίο περιστρέφονται οι τρεις νέοι όγκοι του σπιτιού: μια σαφής αναφορά στα τυπικά σπίτια στις πλαγιές του.

La scala, connotata da una forma ad imbuto, indirizza, già dall’esterno, senza interruzione, la vista dell’ospite verso due punti focali, che lo riportano nuovamente all’esterno e al paesaggio circostante.

The staircase, characterized by a funnel shape, directs, already from the outside, without interruption, the view of the guest towards two focal points, which bring him back to the outside and to the surrounding landscape.

Η σκάλα, που χαρακτηρίζεται από σχήμα χοάνης, κατευθύνει, χωρίς διακοπή, τη θέα του επισκέπτη προς δύο εστιακά σημεία, τα οποία τον φέρνουν πίσω στο εξωτερικό και στο γύρω τοπίο.

Internamente separa funzionalmente l’area living dalla cucina e conduce alle camere da letto e ai servizi situati ai livelli sottostanti.

Internally it separates the living area from the kitchen and leads to the bedrooms and services located on the lower levels.

Εσωτερικά χωρίζει το σαλόνι από την κουζίνα και οδηγεί στα υπνοδωμάτια και τις υπηρεσίες που βρίσκονται στα χαμηλότερα επίπεδα.

L’accesso principale dal versante Nord, porta direttamente nella zona giorno, situata al livello superiore e caratterizzata da una grande vetrata ad angolo che si apre, senza soluzione di continuità, sulla piscina – adagiata su uno dei volumi della zona notte – creando una forte connessione interno – esterno.

The main access from the North-side leads directly into the living area, located on the upper level and characterized by a large corner door window that opens, without interruption, onto the swimming pool – set on one of the volumes of the sleeping area – creating a strong internal-external connection.

Η κύρια πρόσβαση από τη Βόρεια πλευρά οδηγεί απευθείας στο σαλόνι, που βρίσκεται στο πάνω επίπεδο και χαρακτηρίζεται από ένα μεγάλο γωνιακό πορτο-παράθυρο που ανοίγει στην πισίνα – που βρίσκεται σε έναν από τους όγκους του υπνοδωματίου – δημιουργώντας μια δυνατή εσωτερική-εξωτερική σύνδεση.

Legame che si ripercorre in tutti gli ambienti grazie ad una progettazione degli esterni priva di nette barriere visive e alla scelta di piantumare essenze vegetali tipiche del luogo anche nel terreno di proprietà, che variano fortemente con lo scorrere delle stagioni.

A bond that can be traced in all spaces thanks to an exterior design without clear visual barriers and to the choice of planting plant essences typical of the place even in the land owned, that vary greatly with the passing of the seasons.

Ένας δεσμός που μπορεί να εντοπιστεί σε όλους τους χώρους χάρη στον εξωτερικό σχεδιασμό χωρίς σαφή οπτικά εμπόδια και στην επιλογή των φυτικών αποστάξεων χαρακτηριστικών του τόπου και στην ιδιοκτησία γης.

Gli interni essenziali con alcuni accenni alla tradizione, non rinunciano però ai confort moderni, prediligendo il legno di Rovere e le sue sfumature calde e materiali naturali come le fibre di juta, lino e cotone per i tessuti.

The essential interiors with some hints of tradition, however, do not give up modern comforts, preferring oak wood and its warm shades and natural materials such as jute, linen and cotton fibres for fabrics.

Οι βασικοί εσωτερικοί χώροι με κάποιες νότες παράδοσης, ωστόσο, δεν εγκαταλείπουν τις σύγχρονες ανέσεις, προτιμώντας το ξύλο βελανιδιάς και τις ζεστές αποχρώσεις του και φυσικά υλικά όπως γιούτα, λινό και βαμβακερές ίνες για υφάσματα.

I mobili, disegnati su misura, ricordano nelle loro trame la tecnica della mashrabiya: piccoli elementi in legno intarsiato, assemblati secondo un disegno geometrico e complesso formano una stretta griglia di cui sono dotate le finestre dei bovindi detti kioski di tradizione ottomana che caratterizzano l’isola.

The custom-designed furniture recalls the mashrabiya technique in their weaves: small elements in inlaid wood, assembled according to geometric and complex design, form a narrow grid with which are equipped the windows of the bay windows called kioski of Ottoman tradition which characterizes the island.

Τα έπιπλα κατά παραγγελία θυμίζουν την τεχνική mashrabiya στα υφαντά τους: μικρά στοιχεία σε ένθετο ξύλο, συναρμολογημένα σύμφωνα με γεωμετρικό και περίπλοκο σχεδιασμό, σχηματίζουν ένα στενό πλέγμα που πλαισιωνει τα ανοίγματα στο Σαχνισί (παράθυρα σε προεξοχή οθωμανικής παράδοσης που χαρακτηρίζουν το νησί).

Bioclimatica

Grazie ad un’analisi iniziale attenta e ad alcune scelte progettuali mirate l’abitazione non necessita di climatizzazione. L’asse scala infatti funge da camino di ventilazione naturale, utile soprattutto per il raffrescamento estivo, mentre la collina, a diretto contatto con la parte inferiore della casa, favorisce una temperatura interna costante. La muratura del volume superiore più esposto, grazie al suo notevole spessore, è dotata di una buona inerzia termica mentre le dimensioni della pensilina calcolate ad hoc favoriscono un corretto irraggiamento solare estate/inverno. Anche la piscina infine, posta su parte della zona notte, coadiuva nella funzione di controllo e assorbimento del calore solare. Due pannelli solari, esposti a Sud e posizionati sul terreno, forniscono acqua calda durante tutto l’arco dell’anno.

Bioclimatic

Thanks to a careful initial analysis and some targeted design choices, the home does not require air conditioning. The stair axis, in fact, acts as a natural ventilation chimney, especially useful for summer cooling, while the hill, in direct contact with the lower part of the house, favours a constant internal temperature. The masonry of the most exposed upper volume, thanks to its considerable thickness, has good thermal inertia, while the dimensions of the metal canopy calculated ad hoc favour a correct summer/winter solar radiation. Finally, also the swimming pool, located on part of the sleeping area, assists in the function of controlling and absorbing solar heat. Two solar panels, facing South and positioned on the ground, provide hot water throughout the year.

Βιοκλιμα

Χάρη στην προσεκτική αρχική ανάλυση και ορισμένες στοχευμένες επιλογές σχεδιασμού, το σπίτι δεν απαιτεί κλιματισμό. Ο άξονας της σκάλας, στην πραγματικότητα, λειτουργεί ως μια φυσική καμινάδα εξαερισμού, ιδιαίτερα χρήσιμη για την καλοκαιρινή ψύξη, ενώ ο λόφος, σε άμεση επαφή με το κάτω μέρος του σπιτιού, ευνοεί μια σταθερή εσωτερική θερμοκρασία. Η τοιχοποιία του πιο εκτεθειμένου άνω όγκου, χάρη στο μεγάλο πάχος της, έχει καλή θερμική αδράνεια, ενώ οι διαστάσεις του μεταλλικού θόλου που υπολογίζονται ad hoc ευνοούν τη σωστή ηλιακή ακτινοβολία καλοκαιριού / χειμώνα. Τέλος, η πισίνα, που βρίσκεται σε ένα μέρος του υπνοδωματίου, βοηθά στη λειτουργία του ελέγχου και της απορρόφησης της ηλιακής θερμότητας. Δύο ηλιακά πάνελ παρέχουν ζεστό νερό όλο το χρόνο.
